Global Tech Giants Support Perth’s Inaugural Festival of the Web and WWW2017
Global technology leaders Google and Yahoo Research are among the international companies confirmed to take part in Perth’s inaugural Festival of the Web. The eight day long Festival will feature more than a dozen conferences and special events, including the prestigious 26th International World Wide Web Conference (WWW2017), being held in Perth for the first time in the event’s 26-year history. All the events will take place in and around the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre from 2-9 April 2017.
Google and Yahoo Research have each been confirmed as sponsors for the Festival of the Web, and Yahoo’s global head of research Yoelle Maarek will additionally keynote the WWW2017 conference that sits at the heart the Festival.
In additional to Google and Yahoo, representatives from some of the most successful and innovative companies in the world will take part in technical and industry focused tracks and panels as part of both the Festival of the Web and WWW2017 conference. These include Airbnb, Amazon, Facebook, LinkedIn, Microsoft, Pinterest, Uber and Walmart.
Participation by these international leaders highlights the critical role that the Festival will play in giving local students, academics, start ups and other organisations the opportunity to interact with international experts, and showcase the high level of research and innovation that is taking place in Western Australia to a global audience.
Local Australian and Western Australian organisations are also supporting the event, including Perth-based Atamo Electronic Product Solutions; the Australian Computer Society; BankWest, the City of Perth; WA-based oil and gas tech solutions provider Genesis Petroleum; and technology consultants Illuminance Solutions.
The WWW2017 conference is being held with the support of Western Australia’s four public universities – Curtin University, Edith Cowan University, Murdoch University and the University of Western Australia. These universities are Premier Sponsors of WWW2017 and have been involved since the development of the bid to host WWW2017 in Perth.
Event registrations for the Festival of the Web and WWW2017 are now open, and sponsorship opportunities are still available. See http://www.festivaloftheweb.com.au/ for details.
